If you're hosting a BBQ this summer, these are the perfect burgers to make. I can definitely notice the difference between a fresh burger and a prepackaged frozen burger. The prepackaged is obviously convenient, but if you can spare a few minutes to prep, give these a try.
Ingredients:
2 lb fresh ground beef
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
BBQ sauce of choice
Instructions:
1. In a small bowl combine all the spices. Transfer to a large bowl and mix well with the ground beef so that the spices are evenly distributed. I use my hands to incorporate everything for the best results.
2. Preheat your grill on high. While the grill heats, use a 1/2 cup measuring cup to divide 8 portions and use a hamburger press or your hands to mold into 4-inch burgers.
3. Place burgers on the grill and brush the top with BBQ sauce. Cover the grill and let cook until browned on th bottom side, about 2-4 minutes. Flip and brush the other side with BBQ sauce. Cook another few minutes until browned on both sides and there is no pink in the center of the burger.
Note: Burgers should be fully cooked through. Ground meat is exposed throughout the meat unlike a cut of steak where only the outside of the cut is exposed.
Yield: 8 quarter-pound burgers
